Icelandic Sheep Breeders of North America

Call for 2010 AGM Proposals

It's that time of year again, we've just returned from the AGM (Annual
General Membership meeting) and it's time to consider where the next
AGM will be held.

Where:

Our organization rotates the AGM across the continent so that next
year's AGM will be in the middle (midwest section). This section
extends north and south and roughly corresponds to the Midwest part of
the US, except taller! It's not quite time zones because the AGM for
this area last time was still in the eastern time zone but that gives
you an idea of how to think of AGM areas. So if you live in that
area of Canada or the southern US and you'd like to organize an AGM,
send in your proposal! The board will consider all proposals in the
midwestern area of the continent.

A festival with a place to show sheep is a necessity, if it has fleece
and fiber events, that's even better. Some places the AGM has been
held in the past in other areas of the continent: Michigan Fiber
Fest, Dutchess Co. Sheep and Wool Fest, Oregon Fleece and Fiber Fest.

When:

Ideally, when the weather is cool and our sheep are in their best
fleeces but if you have the perfect place in mind and it's in spring
or summer, it could work well too. We try to be flexible so everyone
has a chance to attend or show sheep if they want to.

How:

The organizer needs to plan on a place to meet for the AGM that may
include the option to order food or bring your own but this is not a
necessity. A list of ideas can be provided to those considering
organizing this event including guest speakers, demonstrations or
other informative events.

Anyone with an interest in organizing our AGM, please present a brief
proposal to the board on where you think would be a good place to hold
the meeting and show. If you need more information, let me know and
I will find answers to your questions.

Thank you!
